After a brief hiatus, we are back! We took a few weeks off over the holidays to recuperate, celebrate some great 2024 wins, and gameplan for what we want 2025 to look like. We hope you all had a restful break from the chaos of life and are excited about what this new year holds as we are.
2024 Recap
2024 was a year to remember. We launched in the summer, and quickly gained traction as we found that the kratom community was as excited as we were about providing transparent lab results to the community. We started off by testing the largest brands in the space, and received such an overwhelmingly positive response that we soon decided to test everything we could get our hands on. Needless to say, this year has been a rollercoaster and blessing for us. Here are some of the numbers that defined this year for us:
208 lab tests
In total, we tested 208 products in 2024! Below you’ll see the overall distribution of grades we awarded across those lab results . We were disappointed but not surprised to find that the plurality of grades were F’s.
With that said, we were pleased to find that over the course of the year, grades improved overall. This suggests that the kratom market has become safer since July with regards to how honestly and accurately its products are dosed. We’d like to think that we’ve played some small part in this shift - and we want vendors to know that if they are selling bunk product to consumers, we will get it tested and expose them.
308 product requests
This number is for all of you who have submitted a product request through our website (here) - thank you! We read each and every request that comes in, and try our best to get those product tested. We also make it a point to email every person who submits a request when we release the results.
17.66mg 7-OH
Over the course of the year, we saw the median potency claims and results of the products we tested increase. In the summer, we tested products that were claiming to have 14-15mg of 7-OH, and actually contained less than 10mg. By the fall, we see a 20% increase in potency claims, topping out at 18mg and testing at 17.66mg in November. In December, this number fell as we tested smaller brands.
Overall this is significant as it illustrates something we’ve all surely felt: 7-OH products are getting stronger, both in their claims and actual strength. In the summer, you couldn’t find a tablet that was stronger than 20mg. Now there are several tablets with 30mg+.
To be frank, our team is concerned with the influx of these extremely strong tablets. Combined with the increasing popularity of 7-OH powder, it is easier than ever to consume 100mg+ of 7-hydroxy per day. We are not here to judge anyones lifestyle, we will simply say this: we urge you all to be aware of your own consumption habits and seek help if you feel you are headed down a dangerous path. It is important that we all look out for each other, not only for the sake of our humanity but also to ensure that this wonderful alkaloid stays legal and can continue improving our lives.
1 lawsuit threat
Ending on a lighter note, we were pleased to receive our first cease and desist! This came from Eat Ohmz, who was upset with our decision to post third party lab results of their products.
We have nothing to add here other than this: we will continue testing your products, and we will continue to be objective and fair with you. We would like nothing more than to post some A ratings of your products.
Thank You!
Above all, we want to say thank you - for submitting product requests, for liking and sharing our Reddit posts, and for making us feel like the work we do matters. 2024 was a hell of a year for us, and in our next post we will give you all some insight into what we are building for 2025.
